Pancake Day is Centerville’s signature celebration—and one of Iowa’s most delicious traditions. Now in its 77th year, this beloved one-day festival brings together residents, visitors, families, and friends for a full day of small-town fun, community pride, and, of course, free pancakes served fresh throughout the day.

The celebration takes over historic downtown Centerville with a festive parade, live entertainment, kids’ activities, local vendors, and plenty of reasons to linger on the square. Whether you’re a longtime local who never misses a year or a first-time visitor looking for a classic Iowa experience, Pancake Day offers something for every age—from cheering on the parade to exploring downtown shops and stacking your plate with fluffy pancakes.

In 2026, Pancake Day proudly celebrates with the patriotic theme Life, Liberty & the Pursuit of Pancakes, tying into the spirit of community, tradition, and togetherness that has defined this event for generations. It’s the perfect excuse to make a day trip—or turn your visit into a full weekend in Appanoose County.

Come hungry, bring the whole family, and be part of a tradition that’s been bringing people together for decades. Pancake Day isn’t just an event—it’s a Centerville tradition, and everyone’s invited.

Check out the Pancake Day page of the PACT website, where we’ll be posting a full event schedule, sign up information for both parades and more
