Join the Moravia Public Library for their Civil War Presentation on October 19th!
Bring a lawn chair and join the Moravia Public Library for a trip back in time as Diane Deal, Ruth Shoup, and Vicki Williams will present an onstage fashion show from the Victorian era. These ladies will be featuring: the Ball Gown, The Mourning Dress, the entire wardrobe with different types of hats, as well as the “Language of the Fan”
Next, Ron Deal and fellow reenactors, Bruce Clark and Bill Shoup will give a presentation about the weapons of the American Civil War with demonstrations you will not want to miss! They will be featuring: The Officer’s sward, A Replica Navy Colt Revolver, A Replica Springfield muzzle loading rifle, and Artillery (Mountain Howitzer 12 pounder and a Parrot Rifle 10 pounder). There will be an artillery drill demonstration with rounds of approximately 8oz of black powder. (NO PROJECTILES WILL BE FIRED)
Tables will be set up with various with Civil War related items on full display. And if this is not enough… The Friends of the Moravia Library will be serving light refreshments in the community building throughout the presentation. There is no charge for the event; however, there will be a free will donation jar set up in the community building for the Moravia Public Library and future children and adult programs like these.
