We are gearing up to celebrate a milestone on September 28, 2024, with the 75th Annual Pancake Day—our beloved community event that has become a hallmark of small-town pride and tradition. For three-quarters of a century, Pancake Day has brought together locals and visitors alike for a day filled with parades, entertainment, a deep sense of community spirit and, of course, FREE PANCAKES! This year’s event promises to be the most memorable yet, honoring the rich history while embracing new and exciting elements that will delight attendees of all ages.
The day kicks off early with the Fun Run & Walk with the route conveniently ending directly in front of the famous pancake tent!
In the morning as volunteers fire up the griddles in the heart of downtown Centerville, prepared to serve thousands of pancakes to eager guests when the tent opens at 9am. The famous free pancakes, served with butter and syrup, have been the cornerstone of the event since its inception. It’s a tradition that not only satisfies appetites but also fosters camaraderie as friends, neighbors, and visitors come together to share a meal. A big thank you to HyVee Centerville for providing 100% of the ingredients & supplies for Pancake Day FREE OF CHARGE!
As the aroma of pancakes fills the air, the downtown square transforms into a lively hub of activity. The Pancake Day Parade, one of the highlights of the event, will feature an array of colorful floats, marching bands, and classic cars.
Entertainment options abound throughout the day, with live music, street performers, and a variety of family-friendly activities. The Family Fun Zone will offer caricatures, inflatables, and face painting, ensuring that even the youngest attendees have a day to remember. Local vendors and artisans will also be on hand, offering everything from handmade crafts to delicious local treats.
As the sun sets, the celebration continues with the highly anticipated Miss Pancake Day pageant on the Main Stage. See local students vie for the crown, share their talents and see our 2023 Miss Pancake Day, Kiera Klum, take her final walk across the stage. After the pageant, the party continues with a FREE live concert on the North Side of the Square by Gimikk until 10pm!
