The Appanoose County Historical Society invites you to step back in time at the Haunted History Tour on Sunday, October 27, at Oakland Cemetery. Discover the rich and eerie past of Appanoose County through stories of eight remarkable individuals who shaped the community. This guided tour offers a rare opportunity to explore local history in a truly immersive and atmospheric setting.
The tour begins near the Bradley Mausoleum, located on the east side of the cemetery. Guests are asked to park just east of the bridge for easy access. Two tour options are available: a Daylight Tour at 3:00 PM, perfect for those who prefer a daytime experience, and a Luminary Tour at 6:30 PM, where the cemetery will be illuminated with glowing lights, creating a hauntingly beautiful backdrop for the evening.
During the tour, knowledgeable guides will share captivating tales of Appanoose County’s past, highlighting the lives and legacies of notable figures buried within the cemetery. From pioneers to influential leaders, each story offers a glimpse into the challenges and triumphs that shaped the community over the years.
