Another Successful Year for Children’s Art Festival and Missoula Children’s Theatre
The end of June in Centerville was filled with creativity and excitement as the town hosted its annual Children’s Art Festival alongside the Missoula Children’s Theatre production of “Peter and Wendy.”
At the Ritz, local elementary school students’ artworks were showcased and participants could paint and make crafts themed around the production of “Peter and Wendy.” From pirate hooks to fairy jars, the festival buzzed with over 150 children participating in various activities. HyVee generously provided lunch, while Fareway donated ice for refreshing snow cones.
Missoula Children’s Theatre arrived to cast and rehearse “Peter and Wendy.” Thirty-two young performers from kindergarten through high school auditioned and prepared throughout the week. They honed their skills and roles in rehearsals daily and Missoula Children’s Theatre offered three workshops throughout the week focusing on storytelling, stage movement, and improvisation. The workshops were all well received and had high participation from our young performers.
The culmination of their efforts took place at the Majestic Theater, where over 150 enthusiastic attendees gathered to watch the performance. The young actors, in only a week, were polished in their performance and put on a fantastic show for all in attendance. GoPitch TV recorded the production, allowing the community to stream the event online. More details about streaming the performance are available at the website www.iowamedianetwork.com.
Thanks to all of our sponsors and volunteers who made this festival and production not just possible, but a great success! We hope to see you out next year to participate and perform!
